The Benefits Of A Memory Foam Mattress Pad

By John Clifford

There are some new designs in mattresses today, which can actually help a person feel better after they sleep. These new designs include the memory foam mattress pad. The foam used in creating this product is a solid piece of foam cut to fit the standard sizes of traditional bed mattresses. Based on the technology developed by NASA, this special foam can detect the heat your body emits. It is with this heat detecting ability that the foam can mold or contour itself to fit the shape of your body.

Large body areas such as hips and shoulders, will give off more heat than small regions like your ankles or neck. For people who spend a lot of their sleeping time on their sides, this contouring ability can greatly reduce the amount of stress placed on your spine. This keeps your spine aligned the way it should be, while you are sleeping. This misalignment is the most common reason people suffer from backaches. Even using the thinner depth of the pad or topper will still provide your spine more support than a mattress without any foam in its construction.

These pads are available in different depths ranging from one inch thick to four inches. The price for you topper will depend on the thickness as well as the size mattress you will use it for. Besides all the healthy benefits associated with this product, the toppers are also less expensive than buying a full foam mattress. You simply place the pad on top of your existing mattress to get the same support and benefits as the more expensive full sized products. Some companies may offer their pads with an additional mattress cover, which can be made of cotton, polyester, plastic or a variety of other materials.

This additional cover is placed on your foam pad to provide some protection for the product. When selecting your mattress topper you will need to keep in mind the extra amount of height it will add to your current mattress. You may need to purchase a different size of sheets to fit over both your topper and mattress. If you wake up feeling more tired than when you went to sleep, you might benefit from using this type of foam topper.

I use a memory foam pillow, and it's probably the best sleep-related investment I've made. I'm sure the mattresses are equally fantastic!

I definitely sleep better on memory foam. Also, helps people with allergies as you don't have to worry about all the allergens associated with dust mites! Great hub!

I regret not going with memory foam when we bought a new mattress last year. Not going to make that mistake again.
